The designs of many Israeli coins are based on ancient Jewish coins. In the series “Old Vs. New” we present authentic ancient Jewish coins paired with coins of the State of Israel featuring the same motif.
This set is composed 2 coins with the motif of three sheaves of grain, one of the Seven Species.
Prutah of Agrippa I Minted during the reign of Herod Agrippa, Jewish king, grandson of Herod the Great, between the years 37-44CE. On the obverse, a royal canopy, symbol of the Emperor; on the reverse, three ears of grain.
Israel Silver 250 Prutot Coin was Legal Tender between 1952-1980. The letter H appears on the lower portion of the coin to denote that the coin contains 50% pure silver. Only 44,125 coins were minted.
